Due to presence of Mediterranean sea, the area has humid summer and mild winter. The best time to visit Marmaris are Spring and Autumn seasons when temperatures range from 9 to 25 degrees. The month of May is also a good time to visit as the Spring Festival and Yatch Festivals happen at this time. Turkish Cinema Festival happens in June and the International race week happens in autumn.

Dalaman airport is 100km from Marmaris which can be used to travel here. Several flights are available as well as cars and other transport can be availed to reach and roam in Marmaris. Also private tours and travels can be booked for travelling purpose.

Things to do, see and buy in Marmaris

In Marmaris one can visit the Atlantis Water park, Dolphin Park, Heaven island, Nimara caves, trips to Dalyan and turtle beach, Rock Tombs, Ephesus and Pamukkale, Artemis temple, house of the Virgin Mary, Rhode island, a venetian castle, the Colossus of Rhodes, Cleopatra Island, and also enjoy mud baths and swimming at various locations. For adventure lovers scuba diving, rafting, quad safari, jeep safari and horse safari are available. The Youth square, clock tower, concert shows, fountain shows are quite interesting places to visit.

Lot of shopping can be done in Marmaris. Jewelry, handicrafts, Turkish carpets, tobacco products, alcohol, etc can be bought in Marmaris.

Food and drinks

Turkish wines are exceptionally good. Restaurants here offer Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Turkish cuisines. Lentil soup, kofte and sis kepap are the specialty. Baklava and flan are the popular desserts. Turkish coffee is very famous and should be tried. Ayran is a local yoghurt drink and Efes is local beer.
