The island of Cleopatra is situated not far from Icmeler. This island is very popular among visitors due to its beach with white soft sand. It took thousands of years to form the beach. The beach is protected by the government as it presents outstanding natural beauty.
There is a romantic legend that describes the origin of the name of this beach. It is believed that Cleopatra was homesick in Turkey. She wanted to return to Egypt but she could not. Her friend Marc Anthony decided to dispel her depression and he sent her several ships with sand. Cleopatra used this sand to create a beach that would remind her of her homeland. Nowadays the sand on the beach is considered to be unique in Turkey.
There is a scientific explanation of the origin of this unique sand. Scientists say that sand was formed of rare shells. It took thousands of years. It is forbidden to spoil this sand or to take it as a souvenir. Moreover, it is forbidden to put towels on the beach. The rules are tough, but we try to preserve natural property of our country.
During our excursion we also visit some beautiful places. The first spot is a bay with crystal-clear water. We offer our guests to have a swim there. We provide our guests with equipment for snorkeling. It does not take us long to get to the island of Cleopatra. It is just 15 km away from Icmeler. You will not be tired at all! We use a comfortable boat to get to the beach. It has two decks. You can either sunbathe or sit in the shade.
